Mr. James Earl Woodward, 70, of John Day, Oregon passed away March 31, 2018, at his home in John Day. Arrangements have been entrusted to Driskill Memorial Chapel of John Day.
We are currently seeking information on any remaining family members James may have. We have been in touch with his caretaker and she was very helpful but was under the impression James didn't have any family left. We would like to try to return James to someone in his family if we can. If no one steps forward to claim his remains in the next six months we intend to scatter his cremated remains (with the help of his caretaker) over his mining claim near Bates, Oregon. From what we understand James was a miner at heart, he lived and breathed mining. When he was having a bad day the one thing that could make him smile was asking him to tell stories about his time mining. The last few years were rough for him as he declined in health as he wasn't able to do the thing he loved. So this is why it is fitting to lay him to rest on his mining claim.
