Janet Kay Rude, 63, of John Day, Oregon passed away at her residence on September 13, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Prairie City, Cemetery in Prairie City.
Janet was born in Prairie City, Oregon to Gordon and Dorothy Mitchell on July 28, 1955. She was born and raised in Prairie City where she attended all 12 years of school, and graduated from Prairie City High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robbie Rude, who kissed her on the first day of the first grade. They wed on January 21, 1972 in Ontario, Oregon. They had two boys, Travis and Tim. They lived primarily in Prairie City and John Day.
Janet worked as a School/Head Start cook, mill worker, and Oregonian distributor. She enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping, crafting, playing cards, razor rides and was a very competitive golfer. She was the Club Champion multiple times. Christmas and Halloween were her favorite holidays and she often dressed up with her kids when they were young. Her true passion was being a grandma to Jozie, Kailey and Tyler. She loved spending time with them. Her grandkids were her world. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Janet loved to laugh and make others laugh. Most people who knew her would comment on how she had a great sense of humor.
She leaves behind her husband, Robbie Rude, her sons Travis Rude and Tim (Aimee) Rude, her grandchildren Jozie, Kailey, and Tyler Rude; and her sisters Gloria (Bruce) Blume, Glinda (Bill) Cunningham, and Debbie (John) Sanowski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Dorothy Mitchell.
