Prairie City, Oregon
Delbert Dean Lake, 90, of Prairie City, Oregon, passed away on July 20, 2026, at his residence.
Delbert was born on August 13, 1935, to Floyd and Leona Lake in Cawker City, Kansas. His family moved to Washington state when he was in his mid-teens.
He joined the United States Army in 1955, where he served in Germany as a Military Police Officer.
In 1958, he married Myrna and had 2 children. In 1963, they moved to Prairie City, where he worked at the sawmill until his retirement in 1994.
In 1975, he married Bonnie and, with her two children, formed a new blended family.
After retirement, they bought their 5th wheel and headed to Arizona for the next 15 years to spend the winter there. They traveled to many places and cruised a few times. It's what retirement was all about.
He loved being a grandpa to his 6 grandkids and his great-grandkids. He had a great sense of humor. Most stories were about trips with the grandkids.
He loved Prairie City; this was his home and community.
Del survived his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Debra (Don); and stepdaughters, Celeste (Joe) and Renee (Joe).
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald; his five siblings; and his parents.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 PDT at Prairie City Cemetery in Prairie City, Oregon. A reception will follow at the Prairie City Senior Center.
