Allan R. Olson, age 85, passed away on February 3, 2021, at his residence in John Day, Oregon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, at 1:00 PM at the Grant County Regional Airport. Internment at the Canyon City Cemetery to follow.
Al was born September 7, 1935, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Sidney and Beulah (Beeson) Olson. He attended Boise High School and Northwest Nazarene College. During this time, he also served in the United States Army as a Private First Class upon his discharge.
He then continued his education, obtaining his master’s degree through the University of Idaho.
He was a music teacher for the Grant County School District # 3 for 28 years up until his retirement. During his career, he had several accomplishments; he taught many generations of Grant County residents to play musical instruments, sing and appreciate music. He established the “Olson Music Studio,” which later became “The Music Factory.” He also founded and taught “Kids Bible.”
He enjoyed playing the violin, recorder and would spend his time reading the Bible and other literature associated with the Bible. He was a member of The Brethren Church in Walla Walla, Washington, and had his pilot’s license.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Beulah Olson.
Survivors include his sons, Tom Olson of John Day, Oregon; Buz (Karen) Olson of Seaside, Oregon; and Gary Olson of Yakima, Washington; granddaughters, Sabrina Olson and Dani Olson; grandsons, Ziek Olson and Ryan Olson; one great granddaughter, Salena Gonzales.
