Barbara Jean Clausen, age 88, of Dayville, OR, passed away on September 23rd, 2023 with family by her side. Barbara was born in Wichita, KS, on September 20th, 1935.
Barbara moved to Ojai, CA at a young age accompanied by her family. She was raised in Southern California with her siblings: Claude, Mary, and Sally. Barbara met Jerald Clausen and they were wed on June 24th, 1955. Together, they managed the only funeral home and ambulance operation in Ojai at that time, Clausen Funeral Home and Ojai Ambulance, starting in 1969, when they became the owners of both companies following the passing of Harold Clausen.
Barbara was a rock for her family. Memorable amongst family are the many gatherings and parties that she would host by the poolside in Ojai, keeping her family close and always laughing. She was there by many of her family members sides as they passed including her brother, Claude, sister, Mary, and her husband, Jerry.
She was the foundation from which her family tree grew. Family was important to her and she always looked out for them. She supported them in every way she could, a legacy that her family hopes to carry forward by her example.
She is survived by her son, Ted Clausen of Dayville, OR; daughter Kim Strong of Coeur d’Alene, ID; grandchildren Adam Clausen, Cody Clausen, Amanda Strong, and William Strong; and great-grandchildren Cydney Ruork, Morgan Thomas, and Emerson Harrington.
