Charles “Larry” Wright, age 85, of Prairie City, Oregon, passed away October 14, 2020, at his home with his family by his side. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Prairie City Cemetery with Pastor Keith Dehart and Pastor Dave Hoeffner of the Prairie Baptist Church officiating the service. A reception will be held following the service at the Prairie Baptist Teen Center in Prairie City, Oregon.
Larry was born July 26, 1935, to Charles and Lena (Evans)Wright in Burns, Oregon. Larry attended Baker High and graduated in 1954. He married Carla Edwards in 1974 in Bates, Oregon. Larry was a mill superintendent for 46 years working for Hines Lumber, John Day Lumber, and Grant Western until he retired in 2000.
Larry loved fast cars, sports, and mowing his lawn. He attended Prairie Baptist for many years; he was on the planning commission board and enjoyed being a car club member. One of Larry’s most significant accomplishments was raising his family.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena Wright, brother, Dale Wright, and sister, Sherrie Lahmann.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carla of Prairie City, OR; sons, Rusty (Jill) Wright of Prairie City, Or; Jason ( Aimee) Wright of John Day, OR; daughters, Julie (Rick Combs of Bates, Or; Brenda (Doug) Lovell of Prairie City, OR; and sister, Marlene Pettit of La Pine, OR.
