Donna Marie Finley

Donna Marie Finley, age 93, of Mt. Vernon passed away on January 20, 2023. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Donna was born in Fossil, Oregon on June 3, 1929, to George and Aurilla Anderson. They moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1930. Donna was the oldest of eight children.

She married Ben Finley on November 26, 1948, she graduated from Evergreen High School in 1949.

In 1980 they moved to the ranch in Mt. Vernon, Oregon which was purchased in 1974. Our loving mother and grandmother helped raise most of her grandchildren. She was always making sure that everyone knew about, “Our Father God in Heaven”.

She loved her flowers and always had the most beautiful garden. She enjoyed sharing them with others.

Donna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a smile on her face, no matter what she was doing, driving a dump truck, taking care of her kids, grandkids, gardening, working on the ranch, or riding horses. She continued on with that great smile while driving tractor in the winter and turning bales in the summer on her four wheeler. Everyday after her and her youngest son, Jeff had breakfast, they would share the word of God and listen to Bible Studies.

Everyone that met Donna could feel her caring nature.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Ben Finley; her parents, brothers, and sisters.

Survivors include her children, Christy; Clay (Dale); Cindy (Monte); Dawn (Phil); Larry (Molly); Jeff (Andrea); grandchildren, Tonya, Ben, Candy, Marissa, Colt, Trisha, Ty, Tara, Chance, Jessie, Chad, Jeremy, and Jake. She also leaves behind twenty-three great grandchildren.

Contributions in her honor can be made to the Grant County Veterans, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a Church of one’s choice through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Oregon 97845.
