Geraldine "Gerri" Audry Taecker

Geraldine “Gerri” Audrey Taecker, age 87, of John Day, passed away October 19, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Geraldine was born to Cliff and Viola Goeman on June 15, 1936, in Castlewood, South Dakota. She grew up on her family farm and attended school in Castlewood. She married Harold Taecker Jr. on November 23, 1954, and together they farmed for a short time in Watertown, South Dakota then moved to Southern California from 1959 to 1974. They then purchased their own dry-cleaning business in Woodland, California “Sunshine Cleaner” which they owned and operated for 27 years, later retired, and moved to John Day, Oregon. After retirement, Gerri worked part-time for Java Jungle and Timbers Bistro until she was eighty-three years old.

She enjoyed gardening, long walks, crocheting, baking, and spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Theodore Gadge Brown, her parents, Cliff and Viola Goeman, and her brothers, James and Gerald Goeman.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Harold Taecker Jr., and daughters, Linda (John) Barackman, Debbie Brown, Diana Bingham, and Patty Schmalz, eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
