Joyce May Hendricks, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 13th, 2021 at Settler’s Park Assisted Living in Baker City.
A Recitation of the Rosary, Memorial Mass, and the committal will be announced at a later date.
Joyce was born in the Mt. Vernon area on April 18th, 1930 to William and Myrtle Smith. After graduating from Grant Union, she married her high school sweetheart, Herman Hendricks, in December of 1948. They made their home in Seneca, later moving to Canyon City, where she lived until she moved to Baker City in 2019.
For the most part, Joyce was a homemaker, although she did serve as a Postmaster and worked at Grant Union High School. She enjoyed spending time with family, following the Trailblazers, playing cards, and tending to her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; daughter, Colleen Conlee; her parents, William and Myrtle; and two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her son Mike (Lisa) Hendricks of Gold Hill, Oregon; daughter, Karla (Dan) Averett of Canyon City; son-in-law, Kim Conlee of John Day; brother, Ross Smith of Albany, Oregon; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to Blue Mt. Hospice or the American Cancer Society through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Oregon.
