Obituary
Marietta Lorene Kirkwood, age 89, passed away at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day, Oregon on July 16, 2023. The graveside service will by August 5, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Oregon.
Marietta was born in Bend, Oregon on September 3, 1933. She was the oldest of two children born to Robert and Gladys Helms. Marietta served in the US Marines from 1952 through 1955, during some of the Korean War period.
On July 1, 1956 Marietta married Armond Britt in Spray, Oregon. In 1957 son Stan joined the family, 1960 Steve came into the family and in 1963 Shannon finished the family.
On August 5, 1985 Marietta married Harry Kirkwood in Prineville, Oregon
Marietta worked in the Bendix Molding Plant in Prineville from 1967 till 1985 when she moved to Alaska. In 2005 Marietta moved from Alaska to Prairie City where she was an active member of the Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary – Prairie Unit 106 or to the Prairie City Assembly of God Church through Driskill Memorial Chapel at 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Oregon 97845.
